A PAIR OF CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE OCTAGONAL DISHES. Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period. Decorated with a fortified riverside city encircled by crenelated walls, with houses on stilts above the water surface with sampans in the foreground and conical mountains in the distance, all within a band of diaper patterns, the rims with a thick border of ruyi heads, butterflies and brocade patterns, 24cm diameter. 清乾隆 青花繪山水圖紋八方碟一對 For a similarly decorated soup tureen with stand see Treasures of Chinese Export Ceramics from the Peabody Essex Museum, by W.R.
