Qajar Iran, dated 25 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1228 AH (28 March 1813 AD), signed Mohammad Ibrahim bin Mohammad Quli
Persian and Arabic manuscript on paper, 307ff. plus 2 flyleaves, most folios with 26ll. of black ink naskh script, first and last page with a varying number of lines, the opening bifolio with fine illuminated heading and scrolling gold and polychrome flowers and foliage, the text clustered in cloudbands with gold interlinear fillers, significant words and marginal marks in red, the Arabic text with occasional interlinear Persian translations in red ink nasta’liq script, catchwords, within gold and black rules, signed Mohammad Ibrahim bin Mohammad Quli, dated 25 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1228 AH (28 March 1813), the colophon presenting the scribe’s apology in red ink shikasteh nasta’liq script for the shortcomings of the work due to the inadequacy of the starch in the paper, in a damaged lacquer binding with cusped medallions of floral bouquets, the text panel 17.2cm x 8.6cm, the folio 22.4cm x 13.8cm.
