A FINELY MOUNTED MINO TANTO.
Edo period (18th/19th Century).
The blade of hirazukuri with grooves, gunome hamon, bearing a signature Kanetsune, and a date Taiei 2, fitted with gold habaki. Length 28.9cm, the lacquered saya decorated with kikyo (bellflowers) and a dragonfly in takamaki-e against a gold nashiji ground, the kozuka and kogai in shakudo nanako with the Hosokawa mon.
