Duke of Marlborough – A set of six George III sterling silver dinner plates, London 1804 by William Stroud (reg. 7th July 1788)
of circular form with a gadrooned rim, the edge engraved with a crest of out of a ducal coronet, a griffin's head between two wings expanded, gorged with a collar gemelle, all below a Duke’s coronet. Each fully marked to the reverse.

For George Spencer, 4th Duke of Marlborough, (1739 – 1817), styled Marquess of Blandford until 1758. He served as Lord Chamberlain between 1762 and 1763 and as Lord Privy Seal between 1763 and 1765. He is the great-great-great grandfather of Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965).
