In a venetian 16/17th century style carved and gilded frame with cavetto sight edge, bead course, the central plate with scrolling foliage in low relief on a punch work ground, bead and stepped outer edge
The original is held in the Brera Pinacoteca, Milan.
This well obsereved later copy captures the exquisite attention to detail, soft colours, and realistic depictions Cesare da Sesto bought to his subjects. Cesare da Sesto was a student of Leonardo da Vinci and was greatly influenced by his style.
