A pair of George III sterling silver cast candlesticks, London 1776 by John Carter
Of shaped square form with gadrooned edge rising to an inverted and shaped waisted column with gadrooned knops to a gadrooned cylindrical column. Each with a shaped square gadrooned spirally fluted sconces. The base with fluted sections above olive leaves. The base engraved with a presentation inscription reading “The Gift of Mrs Susan Swaine to John Pollard Jan 11th 1777”. The capitals engraved with initials JMP in flourished cursive script. Fully marked underneath, the sconces with lion passant and a maker’s mark, one lion passant only. (2)
