NOTE:
This unusual pattern is often associated with Cornelis Pronk, who produced designs for the Dutch East India Co. with similar stylistic details, and comparable examples have been discussed by D. Howard and J. Ayers in 'China for the West', London, 1978, vol.1, p.305, in which they suggest this was a specially-commissioned design for a private order.
For similar 'Trumpeter' tea wares from the collection of Mary Viscountess Rothermere, see Christie's New York, 16th April 1994, lots 30 - 32.
