A large pair of Queen Anne Britannia standard silver candlesticks, London 1705 by John Barnard I
The square base with canted corners and embossed gadrooned and moulded bands, rising to a fluted centre additionally with gadrooned bands to a square ‘disc’ section topped with a domed gadrooned band to a fluted doric column with square and canted corner capitals with a gadrooned band. The base sections with an oval cartouche flanked by scrolls reserved with chased fish scales and a textured section, the cartouche engraved with an impaled coat of arms. Each fully marked underneath. The arms are those of Wrathe (Wroth) impaling another.
