A FINE SATSUMA JAR BY RYOZAN.
Meiji period.
The faceted body, a circle panel to each side richly painted in enamels and gilt with a different scene, one showing women and children at yasotsumi (wild herb picking), the other with a group of figures gathering around a teahouse in the country, the third depicting birds amidst flowering peony shrub, and the fourth with a clump of autumn flowers, the surrounding areas decorated with numerous billowing fabrics of various designs, signed Ryozan beneath the mark Yasuda Co.18cm H.
