A pair of mother-of-pearl-inlaid and carved wooden chairs, possibly Syria or North Africa, 20th century, of typical shape reminiscent of Ottoman Syrian high chairs, carved in the round, enhanced with mother-of-pearl geometric and stellar inlays, decorated with knotwork and intertwined vegetal trellis bands, several panels with wooden grid openwork in the style of mashrabiya windows, the back decorated with a horseshoe-shaped arch reminiscent of mihrab niches.
