The work can be compared on stylistic grounds to treatments of the subject by the Bolognese Schools, notably with the influence of Annibale Carracci (1560–1609). One of the founding members of the Bolognese School, Carracci, along with his brother Agostino and cousin Ludovico, played a crucial role in promoting the Bolognese School's principles.
