A cased George III sterling silver twin handled cup and cover, London 1795 by Solomon Hougham
Of urnular form upon a spreading circular to square base, the moulded twin loop handles with splayed double shell junctions, the pull off lid with high domed centre surmounted by an urn form final. The body and lid dome with fluted decoration. The edges of the foot with later engraved inscription reading “Nancy May, from her godfather, John Bland Sutton”. Gilt interior. Fully marked underneath and to the lid bezel. Later housed in a fitted oak case with blue felt interior, brass carrying handles and inset vacant cartouche, key present lock warped, with an ivorine plague for Daniel and John Wellby of Garrick st.
