PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE AMERICAN TRUST
Near East or North Africa, 9th - 10th century

Arabic manuscript on vellum, each folio with 13ll. of dark sepia ink Kufic script, diacritic marks in red, verse markers in lobed gold rosettes, catchwords, notes to the margins, no evidence of marginal illumination, each folio 8cm x 12.5cm.

Provenance:

In the collection of the German-American Islamic Art historian Rudolf Meyer Riefstahl (9 August 1880 - 31 December 1936), a professor at New York University, thence by descent;

Riefstahl's son sold it to Karel Wiest Antiques of Detroit, Michigan, USA, from whom the family of the present vendor acquired it in 1978.
