fitted shagreen case, containing inscription, A Miniature of Captain N. Burslem when in the 11th Regiment of Foot painted by Barry, the celebrated Irish Miniature Painter in or about 1793. 50 Guineas he recieved for painting it.

Captain Burslem was educated at Rugby School. He was appointed an Ensign in the 11th Foot in December 1789 rising to Lieutenant Colonel in the 14th Foot by October 1814. He was appointed to command the 17th Foot in 1826 and afterwards retired from the service by 1829.
