A George VI sterling silver tankard, London 1937 by Goldsmiths and Silversmiths

In the Charles II style, of cylindrical form with a slightly spreading moulded edge foot and a hollow C scroll handle. The stepped flat lid raised by a scroll thumbpiece, centred with a cast figure of a ram. The front engraved with a 17th century style arms for the Clothworkers Company above the inscription “The Gift of Francis and Mary Burton, 1684”. The underside engraved “The Coronation gift of the clothworkers company 1937”. Fully marked to side and part-marked to lid top. Also, with later French control marks.
