A George III Scottish provincial silver mounted coconut cup, Glasgow circa 1770 by Adam Graham (active 1763-1818)
upon a shaped broadly circular base, with straps mounts to the coconut and a plain rim. Engraved to the rim with an inscription in Scottish Gaelic, dated 1740. The coconut carved with three biblically inspired scenes, one with an angle presenting an offering and LVC Cap 1 (Leviticus Chapter One), a scene for Sodom and Gomorrah with a drunk lecherous man with two women being poured drinks and GENES. C.19 (Genesis Chapter 19), and a scene of “But the angel said to the young man, “Grab the fish and hold on to it!” He seized the fish and hauled it up on dry land.” above Tobia C.6V.4 (Tobit Chapter 6 verse 4). The foot engraved with initials EM OS in Scots cursive script. Marked to the foot rim edge AG, town mark, AG.
