Personal reply of King Leopold II to an addressed presented to him by the Metropolitan County Officer render homage to the s during his visit to England in 1869, written in secretarial hand and signed ('Leopold') at close, reading in part "I am gratified at the opportunity thus afforded me of expressing once more the pleasure with which I have seen the Belgians render homage to the spirit which animates you, for an organisation such as yours cannot but be a source of admiration to every one who prizes his country's institutions, and has learned the full value of independence", three pages, folding marks, light soiling, pencil annotations to front page, folio, Buckingham Palace, 16 November 1869.
