A George III Irish provincial silver milk jug, Cork circa 1785 by John Hillery (1750-1780) or John Humphreys (1773-87)
Of helmet form upon a pedestal square form base with beaded rims. The body with bright cut engraved decoration of laurel swags, an oval cartouche to the front with initials MT in cursive script, the foot engraved with leaves. Gilt interior. Engraved underneath with scratch weight oz pw over 5”1. Maker’s mark I.H only once behind handle.
