JEAN NOUVEL (b.1945) FOR ALESSI

JEAN NOUVEL (b.1945) FOR ALESSI: A stainless steel, double wall coffee set, designed in 2005, to comprise a coffee pot, a milk jug, four espresso cups and saucers, a coffee cup, three coffee spoons, and a circular tray, together with a Stelton, stainless steel revolving ashtray. (16)

Tray 42cm diameter

'Tower' Service à Café, designed in 2005 by Jean Nouvel, was presented originally at the Venice Biennale as a small utopia. Trained originally as an architect, Nouvel created a coffee set formed like a city made up of gleaming cylindrical towers that are gilded inside. Within the reflections of the “towers”, the line 'Café que j’aime ta couleur café' from a song of Gainsbourg’s appears as though viewed in a curved mirror.

Estimated at £100 - £200
