A George III sterling silver teapot, London 1796 by Peter and Ann Bateman
Of oval form with reeded rims, the tapering cylindrical spout opposite a wooden C scroll handle pinned to cylindrical sockets. The hinged domed lid above a cavetto neck, surmounted by a detachable wooden pyriform finial with a leafy calyx. The body with bright cut engraved decoration of foliate scrolls with swags and rosettes reserved with striated lines. Fully marked underneath, the lid with maker’s mark and lion passant.
