JOHN EDWARD JONES (1806-1862)

JOHN EDWARD JONES (1806-1862), a pair of weathered white marble busts of John Otway O'Conner (O’Connor Cuffe), (1818-1865), the Third Earl of Desart, County Kilkenny, Ireland, and his wife Lady Elizabeth Lucy (1822-1898), Countess of Desart, who held the position of Lady of the Bedchamber (1845-64) to Queen Victoria, engraved 'J E. JONES. Sc. LONDON 1861', possibly from Desart House, County Kilkenny, Ireland. (2)

Notes: 'A Dictionary of Irish Artists', 1913, has an entry for a commission from Elizabeth Countess of Desart. R.A., 1862., which may be the pair of busts.
