A CEREMONIAL INDIAN BEADWORK BORDER HANGING WITH LORD GANESHA AND PEACOCKS

The red cotton ground bordered with schematic cut-out patterns, the field covered in polychrome beads with repeating pairs of peacocks flanking stylised flowers, interspersed with floral baskets, at the top a geometric zig-zag horizontal grid, the lower border with crenelation containing flowerheads, further enhanced with phrases in Devanagari script in red beads and a figure of Lord Ganesh, the Hindu God of Good Beginnings, 445cm x 36cm.
