*** Uncommon edition, with only 3 copies recorded on ESTC. First published in 1781, with a second edition the following year, and a stated third edition in 1791. This would appear to be the true third, the dating derived from ESTC. The author, of whom very little is known, aimed at providing a young officer a clear and comprehensive manual for his duties.
