A TIBETAN SAMANTABHADRA NYINGMA SCHOOL THANGKA.
Tibet, 16th Century.
Tempera on canvas, one of the Sakyamuni Triad shown in the centre in an indivisible yab-yum union with his consort Samantabhadrī, the pair situated on a lotus throne supported by two snow lions and surrounded by a double aureola and a crowd of deities, protectors and other representations of Buddha, unmounted, 87 x 67.5cm.
Provenance: Property from a Private English Collection, predominantly assembled in the 1970s and 1980s.
