A CRIMSON RED SILK COVER
Ottoman Provinces, late 18th century
Possibly made to cover a pillow front, the reduced crimson satin silk worked in couched metal thread in a variety of techniques on raised thread ground with stylised floral clusters, the ends with stylised carnations in arches, the selvedges with green and ivory chevron-weave, backed, mounted, and framed, the silk panel 46cm x 123cm, 64cm x 140cm including the frame.
