Tibet, late 19th Century.

Depicting a huntsman in a red robe with a tiger tied up with a chain beneath trees, with mountain peaks in the background, 36 x 70cm.

西藏十九世紀晚期 彩繪木屏

Exhibited at Asia House, London, November 2010 at the exhibition 'The Tiger in Asian Art'.

Similar images are displayed around the entrance to monasteries or private households in Tibet, signifying an auspicious welcome and symbolically blessing those within.
