A portrait of the wife of Benjamin Charles Stephenson (son of Sir William Henry Stephenson). Stephenson was an English dramatist, lyricist and producer of several long running shows of Victorian theatre in both London and New York. He wrote for the theatre using the pen name 'Bolton Rowe'. His biggest hit was the 1886 comic opera Dorothy which came to be regarded as a classic Victorian piece.
