An Edwardian sterling silver hot water pot, Sheffield 1909 by Mappin and Webb
Of octagonal baluster form upon a domed octagonal foot, the short, panelled spout opposite an ebonised D section handle pinned to sockets. The hinged domed lid surmounted by an ebonised conical finial. Engraved with a crest of an eagle with wings expanded, each wing charged with a fasces erect, supporting with the dexter claw an escutcheon of the arms, viz., per pale az and sa., on a fesse invected, plain cottised or, between three fleurs-de-lis of the last, a fasces erect between two eagles' heads erased. The opposing side engraved with initials J & M W above “1860 May 30th 1910”. Fully marked to side and part-marked to lid.
