A BURMESE INCISED BLACK LACQUER 'EQUESTRIAN' BETEL-BOX AND COVER

19th / 20th Century

Of shallow cylindrical form and decorated using the yun technique, the cover incised with a quatrefoil panel enclosing a horse and rider all within a border of undulating leafy stems, the sides with chinthes alternating with birds in flight, the base decorated with a similar bird enclosing within a border of concentric circles, all in silver on a black lacquer ground, the interior lacquered black,

17.8cm diameter, 10.6cm high
