María Luisa de la Riva y Callol de Muñoz was a renouned Spanish painter who specialised in still life. She was a student of sculptor Mariano Bellver y Collazos and the painters Antonio Pérez Rubio (Navalcarnero, Madrid 1822-Madrid, 1888), and Sebastián Gessa y Arias. Notably she was considered to have been one of the only Spanish artists to create a training studio for female painters.
