A George III sterling silver milk jug, London 1812 by Benjamin Smith II and James Smith III (reg. 23rd Feb 1809 – terminated by 14th Oct 1812)

Of compressed circular form upon a spreading circular foot, with an everted gadrooned rim, opposite a leaf capped C scroll handle with a cinquefoil terminal. The body with a central die-cast band of repeating cinquefoils, later engraved to one side with initial RK in cursive script, the other side with a crest of a griffin’s head couped, probably contemporaneous. Gilt interior. Fully marked underneath.

Weight – 364 grams / 11.07 ozt
