Wallis (Barnes)
Typed letter signed ('Barnes Wallis') to a W. Thomas, thanking the recipient for his letter and photographs and adding "I find all this information absolutely quite fascinating, particularly the article on St.Ouen at Rouen, and I am very grateful for all this information. I must confess that I am not acquainted with the term 'Petrie polygons', and should be grateful if you could tell me what is the meaning of this expression? [...] I am particularly grateful for your permission to keep all the slides, as I do occasionally lecture on architecture in which I refer to the static determination of the Gothic Arch. It is evident that our remote ancestors had a very considerable knowledge of mathematics", one page, light folding marks, a couple of very light stains, one small smudge to signature, otherwise in very good condition, 4to, White Hill House, Effingham, 16 May 1973.
