A FRENCH PEWTER COMMEMORATIVE DISH

Of circular shape, resting on a convex circular base, with an everted rim, the central roundel decorated with an Ottoman sultan on horseback and the inscription Tirckrich Keiser (Turkish ruler), around the rim similar roundels decorated with Western rulers of prominent Christian countries such as Poland, Spain, Sweden, France, Denmark, and England, interspersed amidst vegetal sprays and stylised gargoyles, the base stamped with a variety of marks including a rose surmounted by a crown (French pewter mark), a rampant lion with the initials P.K., and the inscription etain d'art titre legal, 17.5cm diam.
