AN ENGRAVED BRASS BOX WITH FLORAL MOTIFS
Possibly Kashmir, Northern India, mid to late 19th century
Of rectangular shape, resting on four bulbous feet, with a slightly curved casket-like lid, the exterior finely engraved with round arches and quarters of roundels filled with palmette trellis set against dense vegetal scrollwork and floral sprays, 15.5cm x 31cm x 20.8cm.
Provenance: purchased at Schoeni Art Gallery in Hong Kong in 1983 or 1984.
