Ink on two conjoined sheets of lined paper, the copper engraving featuring an uncoloured panorama of the Syrian site of Palmyra alias Tadmor by Cornelis de Bruyn (1652 – 1727), from De Bruyn's Reizen (...) door de vermaardste deelen van Klein Asia (...) Aegyten, Syrien en Palaestina also translated in French (second edition) as Voyage au Levant…, the view taken from the south, with two riders in the foreground and several other small figures giving the sense of the vast size of the site, 33cm x 66.5cm.
