A PIERCED AND INCISED BRASS TRAY, SOUTH INDIA OR SRI LANKA, LATE 19TH CENTURY, of elongated octagonal shape, the rim raised and worked with a band of chased decoration, the centre with diamond-shaped cartouches filled with two double-headed birds and framed by a parade of quadrupeds against grounds of pierced vegetal scrolls, a second band of pierced decoration consisting of rectangular panels filled with alternating elephants and lions to the sides, two larger lions to each end and peacocks displaying their open tail-feathers to the corners, 61cm x 35.5cm.
