A late 19th / early 20th century Anglo – Indian silver card case, Madras circa 1900
Raj period. Of shaped rectangular form with a hinged lid. Embossed decoration in Swami pattern, of Hindu deities of Vishnu with Lakshmi and Prithvi upon his vahana Garuda, reserved with scroll work and further figures atop of rustication, all above a vacant shield shape cartouche. The obverse with a Vishnu in the Bodhi tree, with worshippers below, again reserved with foliate scrolls and rustication.
