An Alexander III late 19th century Russian 88 zolotnik silver gilt and champlevé enamel cup and saucer, Saint Petersburg circa 1890 by Theodor Nygren (active 1874-1898)
The cup of rounded form raised upon four open work legs formed as horses heads with ball feet, a columnar handle. The saucer of dished circular form upon a collet foot. Each with four colour champlevé enamel decoration of pan-Slavic type bands, including architecture. Each marked underneath with dvonik and maker’s mark TN (Postnikova 1868). Together with a champlevé enamel spoon, Moscow 1890, maker’s mark obscured, assayer A. Romanov (active 1886-94).
