A Victorian Scottish sterling silver flagon, Glasgow 1872 by George Edward & Sons
Of gently tapering cylindrical form upon a cavetto foot. A short spout opposite a C scroll handle with inset ivory insulators pinned to scroll sockets, leading to a hinged domed lid surmounted by a removable compressed circular finial. The body with an embossed decorative band of classical panel between strapwork cartouches, the front engraved with initials HWW in cypher, all between flat chased decorative bands. Gilt interior. Fully marked to rim, the handle part-marked, the lid and finial unmarked. Stamped Edward & Sons, Glasgow underneath.
