AN INDIAN SILVER-INLAID SCISSOR DAGGER (KATAR)
India, 19th century

Of typical shape, with a double-edged blade splitting in the middle to release a third double-edged spiky blade, the main blade, grip and handle decorated with silver-inlaid vegetal scrolls, foliate designs and geometric bands, 38.5cm long.

Similar examples of scissor katars with silver-inlaid decoration were successfully sold at Bonhams San Francisco, 20 November 2007, lot 3235; and 19 June 2018, lot 64.
