Five illuminated leaves on vellum from a Book of Hours,
one leaf with a full-page miniature of the Kiss of Judas, 15 lines on verso, slightly faded and stained, seventeenth-century inscription recording provenance at head of leaf as Carmelite convent of Lille, southern Netherlands (probably Bruges), c. 210 x 115mm., c.1460; four other leaves once with miniatures pasted to them (now wanting) with fine borders of foliage and acanthus-leaves terminating in bezants and gold arrowheads, and enclosing a variety of birds (a blue stork, a crane, a peacock, a dove, a long-necked bird with a worm and two others) and 4 angels with their hands clasped in prayer emerging from gold plinths, contemporary "IHS maria" on one leaf, versos blank, good condition, northern Netherlands, c. 165mm. by 115mm., c.1460 (5)
