Fly Fishing on the River Kennet

For the fly fisherman with some experience, be transported out of the City and into one of England's finest chalk streams, the middle Kennet is a wildlife haven, where water voles and kingfishers do their best to distract you from your quarry. Wild and stocked trout rise freely to the fly, and there's a terrific pub nearby to down a well-earned drink at the end of the day.

This accompanied day of fly fishing for one on the River Kennet, near Hungerford, includes a picnic or pub lunch. Drive about an hour and a half down the M4 from London where you’ll be spending the day with Ben Welsh, a keen and experienced fly fisherman who is adamant that this is the best spot for fly fishing.

Invite a friend or loved one, someone who would be happy to enjoy nature from the bank of the river and admire pristine nature. The Kennet is the largest tributary of the River Thames, with most of the river straddled by the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

In the words of Ben and Dinah Welsh, donors of this lot: It’s a wonderful way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It transports you to an alternative world. And we are happy that it will support the cause. Chiswick House is an elegant oasis and a dear friend where we can lose the grime and noise of the city to walk and work in the garden. It is a jewel in London and we want to help protect it.

Kindly donated by Ben and Dinah Welsh, Certus Communications Ltd
