An early 20th century Chinese export silver standing cup, Canton and Shanghai dated 1905, marked An Chang, retailed by Luen Wo of Shanghai
Qing dynasty. Of rounded circular form, the stem formed as three twisted sections of bamboo from a domed circular base, the domed section chased as the roots. The bowl section with cast and applied decoration of flowering prunus attended to by birds. Gilt interior. The foot rim with an engraved inscription reading "Hankow Customs Club Billiard Handicap 1905 cup presented by F. G. Becke Esquire, won by A. F. Schepens.” Marked to the inside of the foot with artisan mark 安昌 (AN CHANG), retailer’s mark LW, and SHANGHAI.
