An early 20th century Estonian 875 standard silver cigarette or cigar box, Tallinn circa 1935 by Richard Lange
Of rectangular form with a hinged lid raised by a simple thumbpiece. All over with engine turned trompe-l'œil decoration to resemble the packing for cigars, also engraved with initials in elaborate script, the imperial twin headed eagle, and a pseudo inscription in Russian dated 9 V 1901. Gilt interior. Marked with lion passant in an oval (after May 27 1924), 875, maker’s mark R.L, also a pseudo Russian dvonik mark for Saint Petersburg.
