Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the horizontal composition depicting the Mughal Emperor Akbar (r. 1556 - 1605) seated on a lion's throne under a heavily caparisoned and encrusted golden palanquin, meeting with his trusted army general Man Singh and his father in law Raja Bharmal on a terrace overlooking a river, another attendant whisking a fan with peacock's feathers behind the Emperor, set within black and white rules, and polychrome borders, 27.2cm x 34cm.
