Autographs & Memorabilia

Lot 321

Diana, Princess of Wales Autograph letter signed ('Diana') to her beautician and close friend Janet Filderman, reading "I was so terribly sorry to hear about your father and the very least I can do is to say how much I am thinking of you at the moment. How brave you were to continue working when I know how unhappy you must have been feeling. It is so difficult to pretend to be strong when all you want to do is to go away and hide. Life has dealt you some terrible blows in a short space of time, no doubt leaving you battered and bruised inside but I can't tell what admiration your clients (the few I know) and myself have for someone who manages to bounce back again and again. Words are such inadequate things to express at times like this, but Janet, I wanted you to know that you're very much in my thoughts. Keep smiling", four pages, mid-horizontal folding mark, 8vo, Kensington Palace, 14 January 1986; with original mailing envelope addressed in Diana's hand.
