A week in Wiltshire for five

Picture yourself at lovely Meadow View, a delightful riverside cottage overlooking the River Avon with unspoilt views across the valley. You’ll see all kinds of birds, including kingfishers, and with luck you may also occasionally catch an otter swimming peacefully downstream in the babbling brook in the garden.

The cottage is on the edge of the village of East Chisenbury, in the Avon Valley in Wiltshire – an excellent area for walking and sightseeing with Stonehenge, Avebury and other ancient sites nearby. There is a good local shop a mile away in Upavon. Salisbury, and the attractive market towns of Devizes and Marlborough, are a half hour drive away.

Staying in? Stretch your culinary muscles in the well-appointed kitchen, cosy up to the woodburning stove in the dining room, kick back in the sitting room with an open fire. Stunning views abound from the French windows that open onto a sunny vine-covered terrace with a summerhouse. Steps from the terrace lead down to the riverside garden (not fenced). A gate opens into the adjoining wood.

The cottage comprises 2 reception rooms, 3 bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin and 1 single), a bathroom with shower, and a utility room with sink, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is parking for two cars. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
