* AN OTTOMAN STEEL DAGGER WITH GOLD-INLAID AGATE HILT
PROPERTY OF AN IMPORTANT PRIVATE EUROPEAN COLLECTOR

With a single-edged gold-inlaid steel blade, decorated with a lobed benedictory calligraphic cartouche on one side, the forte with chiselled and raised sun rays decoration, the hilt made of yellow agate, of tubular shape, inlaid with gold vegetal sprays and floral bouquets, the pommel with silver filigree and granulation work, the top set with turquoise paste, within a wooden scabbard, lined with dark green velvet and with two white metal fittings decorated with knotwork bands, rosette and vegetal motifs, 33.5cm long including the scabbard.
