Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the horizontal composition depicting the Hindu god of Creation, Brahma, characterised by four faces and his standard attributes, including the Vedic texts and a club, seated on a polygonal lotus throne, wearing a gold, encrusted and caparisoned crown and a yellow robe with diamond-shaped cartouches filled with the Sanskrit Sacred Texts of Hinduism, the portrait set within orange and black borders, on the recto an inscription in sepia ink reading Brahma, the painting pasted onto later buff paper with an inventory no. 16 written in pencil, 12.3cm x 16cm.
