Typed letter signed ('Dr E. Benes') to Sir W.D. Ross, Provost of Oriel College, Oxford, from 1929 to1947 and Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University from 1941 to 1944, apologising for the delay in replying to a previous letter and adding "I, of course, very much appreciate your kindness in electing me as a member of your Senior Common Room. You are thereby providing me with a charming opportunity for rest and recreation on the occasion of my visits to Oxford, which I always enjoy very much and to which I always return with great pleasure", one page, folding marks, light creasing, 4to, London, 22 October 1942; together with: another typed letter signed by Benes, accepting an invitation to lunch, one page, 4to, 9 February 1943; an autograph letter signed by Joan Masaryk to Lady Ross, saying her and her husband "were very kind to me during my somewhat hectic sojourn at Oxford. Being with you was a much enjoyed privilege", one page, 8vo, 58 Westminster Gardens, Marsham Street, 20 November 1942. (3)
